Tantek claims that Mozilla copied Type Ahead Find from MacIE. Well, as evidenced by the bug requesting the feature, it was actually copied from Emacs, which has had it for decades.
As to the other features Mozilla copied from MacIE (and iCab, and Opera, and WinIE, and Mosaic, and Lynx): imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Microsoft clearly weren't going to bring all these great features to the Free world, so Mozilla did instead.
There is only one principle behind Free Software, and that is freedom. The freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve software. In the software world there is little worse than NIH syndrome. Just because someone else came up with an idea first doesn't mean that we, like non-free developers, can't see its value and adopt it.
